What’s The Best Casino Game For Professional Players?

Let’s look at which casino games are best for professional players. You can probably guess I’m going to say roulette. Do I really believe that? Well, yes. That’s why my focus is roulette in the first place.

Comparing The House Edge of Games

Most games have a variety of versions, and different types of bets. So the house edge varies. I won’t give the full list. Below are the typical games with the LOWEST house edge:

Blackjack: 0.5%

Video Poker: 0.44%

Pontoon: 0.71%

Roulette is 2.7% for European wheels, and 5.26% for American wheels.

The house edge of slots at some online casinos is quite low. See this list of the best live casinos although check the fine print so you know the exact house edge for each game.

If you were “gambling”, then clearly roulette doesn’t give the best odds. See odds for roulette for details.

If you’re paying attention and understand the house edge, you’d know my mention of roulette odds doesn’t quite fit. Most readers probably wouldn’t have noticed because they don’t understand the distinction between odds and payout.

Understanding What The House Edge Is

The house edge comes from the difference between your odds of winning, and the payout when you win.

Like with European roulette, there are 37 numbers but the payout for wins on a single number is 35-1. When you win, you get back your original bet, plus 35 chips. So after 37 spins, you’ll average one win. The calculations are below:

On 37 spins, you lose 1 chip.

On 1 spin, you get back 1 chip PLUS 35 chips.

So after 37 spins, you’ll end up with 36 chips. The total loss is 1 chip, so the house edge is 1/37 = 2.7%

So again the house edge just means how much you’ll lose . . . if you win at the “expected rate”. And again with roulette, the expected rate for single number bets is 1 in 37.

Changing Your Odds

In roulette, consider improving the rate at which you win. Say you could win 1 in 25 times instead of 1 in 37 times. This wipes out the casino’s edge of 2.7%, and gives you a positive edge of +44%.

You’d probably think increasing your win rate to this degree just isn’t possible with roulette. If you think that, you’re dead wrong, and here’s how you can see for for yourself:

Step 1: Go to any wheel, and note the number where the ball first hits the rotor (the spinning part with pockets). Call this “number A”.

Step 2: Wait for the ball to stop, and note the winning number. Call this “number B”

Repeat this for about 60 spins in each direction, and make a list of “A,B” numbers. Each line of “A,B” represents one spin. Keep your data separate for each direction. So you’ll have date like this:

Clockwise Rotor Direction:

32,5

14,9

16,3 etc.

Anti-Clockwise Rotor Direction:

4,2

32,9

15,8 etc.

Now go to http://roulettephysics.com/jaa/index.php/jump and enter your data in the top part, and click “Chart It”. Remember not to combine data from different directions. Check each direction separately.

You’ll find the charts look something like this:

Chart displaying distance between “Number A” and “Number B”.

The chart represents how far the ball bounces. It isn’t random.

In the above example, you can see mostly the ball bounces about 18 pockets. The actual distance depends on a variety of factors like ball type and size, and rotor speed. It is different for every wheel.

What’s The Point? You’ll find the ball bounce isn’t random. It’s actually quite predictable.

Dominant Diamonds

Now imagine if you could know where the ball first hits the rotor (the spinning part with pockets). Actually it’s not difficult for a roulette computer because it measures the ball and rotor speed to make predictions. But assume you aren’t using a roulette computer.

Can you predict at least where the ball will fall? Absolutely.

Observe 20 or so spins for one spin direction, and note which diamonds the ball hits – or at least where the ball falls from the ball track. Draw a little diagram and it will look something like this:

Dominant diamonds: the ball hits some diamonds more than others.
Dominant diamonds: the ball hits some diamonds more than others.

It doesn’t matter how hard or fast the ball is released, or how new or old the wheel is, almost always it will have specific diamonds the ball hits more than others. These are called “dominant diamonds”.

The ball doesn’t need to constantly hit the same diamond. The ball just needs to behave in a sufficiently predictable way.

Predicting The Number Under the Dominant Diamonds, WHEN The Ball Falls

You can probably see where this is going.

First we can see the ball bounce isn’t random. It’s easily predictable. And second we can see where the ball falls is predictable.

All that’s left is knowing which numbers will be under the dominant diamonds WHEN the ball will fall. There are a few approaches that do this. The most effective is a roulette computer, but they aren’t legal everywhere.

Another approach is “visual ballistics”, which is part of the professional roulette player course we provide. What I’ve explained above is a very basic outline of what visual ballistics does.

There are numerous parts of an effective visual ballistics technique. In addition to parts explained above, tou need an effective and practical method that:

  • Determines a point in time when you know the ball has a set time remaining before the ball falls (and probably hits a dominant diamond).
  • Accounts for how far the rotor will travel, and how far the ball will bounce, and ultimately the approximate area on the wheel where the ball will stop.

Using visual ballistics and related techniques, you can very easily achieve an edge of +20%, or much more. If you know how to beat roulette, you barely consider the house edge.

Conclusion

Roulette isn’t a random game it all. The spins are actually quite predictable, once you know what to look for.

The roulette wheel is a mechanical device, with predictable behavior. It makes roulette (as a game) far more vulnerable for casinos.

And casinos know about it. Try standing at a wheel just taking notes. Or draw a little diagram showing the dominant diamond. Then start making late bets. Make yourself visible. See what the casino staff do.

Roulette wheels aren’t the impossibly random things most people believe. They are swiss cheese (full of holes). The problem in beating roulette has nothing to do with the wheel. The real problem is avoiding detection. The casino wont let you win large amounts. They will make changes until you lose or leave.

However, you can quite easily earn large sums without being detected (provided you don’t get greedy). Avoiding detection is what we teach, in combination with valid techniques that really work.

Visual ballistics might get you a theoretical 15% edge. But for reasons explained above, you’ll be easily noticed before you win enough. And what you need to do to avoid detection may mean you end up with a 1% edge. On the same wheel, a roulette computer may get a 50% edge which is easily high enough. When you consider what you must do to avoid detection, your actual edge may be +25% which is still very high.

The other option is a strategy that gives you a lower edge (like 2-5%), but allows you to win consistently, without being detected. This is what the system at www.rouletteadvantageplay.com does.
